From Corporate Life to Bakers Acres of Dexter

Hello! We're Christine and Bob. For years, our careers in the military and healthcare were defined by rigorous schedules and corporate demands. But our true passion was always a different kind of work: a life measured by the sun's rhythm, the bounty of a harvest, and the simple pleasure of gathering eggs each day. With a shared love for gardening, we began to dream of expanding our efforts to grow more food for our community. That dream led us to Baker’s Acres. We traded our professional roles—and the Zoom meetings and site visits that came with them—for the fulfillment of providing amazing produce to our neighbors. This farm is a celebration of a simpler way of life and our commitment to fresh, local food. Our past careers taught us the value of hard work, planning, and community, and we've poured those lessons into every aspect of our new adventure. We’re learning new things every day, from large-scale and sustainable gardening to caring for our chickens, bees, and cats. We've traded our business attire for overalls, and we couldn't be happier.
